Overview
Cheung Chau is a car-light outlying island south-west of Hong Kong Island, famous for the Cheung Po Tsai Cave (張保仔洞 — note 保, not 寶), Pak Tai Temple, seafood lanes and the Bun Festival. Ferries run from Central Pier 5. Ideal full-day escape from the harbour skyline.
Classic Cheung Chau day: morning ferry from Central Pier 5, Pak Tai Temple and harbour lanes, then the walk to Cheung Po Tsai Cave (張保仔洞). The cave is steep and narrow — closed shoes, phone light, patience on weekends. Loop back via Tung Wan beach and the windsurfing statue for seafood and ferries home. Confirm last sailing; Bun Festival days are a different (crowded) experience.
